Tuscan Wine Tours: Chianti

South of Florence is considered the most beautiful countryside in Europe, famous for its wine and its beautiful medieval hill-towns, castles, stone farmhouses and breathtaking views.

All of these elements are so well blended together with its rolling hills that it seems that a landscape architect designed the whole area. This glorious scenery is also the result of centuries men working the land and respecting the innovative environmental regulations that begin in Chianti for the first time in the seventeenth century.

Giving a list of things to see and do in Chianti, would take several weeks. It has more than 450 wineries producing Chianti Classico, more than 70 monumental castles, hundreds of mediaeval farmhouses and more than a dozen of ancient hill-towns. There is no other part of Europe that concentrates so much beauty in such a small territory between Florence and Siena. Driving through the area with an expert driver or guide will allow you to discover and enjoy the most scenic routes, the quaintest villages which remain as they were in the 1300s. You feel as though you have gone back to the medieval ages.

We will visit Passignano, Montefiridolfi, Greve, Castellina, Radda and Gaiole, all charming Tuscan towns. We may also visit an old winery and taste its wine and also visit Monteriggioni, an impressive thirteenth-century fortress, immortalized by Dante in the Divine Comedy.
